An artifact
which has lines, forms and colors composed on a surface is an abstract
painting. The word 'abstract' means "pulled from" and is from Latin: ab=from
and "tractus"=pulled.
An abstract
composition is like jazz. The artist begins to play without a written
score. Ideas for progress and intermixture of fugal elements come to him
as he proceeds. When the composition winds to resolution the artist stops.
Land forms, rivers, waterfalls, creeks, streets, buildings and sometimes
human figures are the sources of my compositions.
I am inspired
by Miles Davis, Michelangelo, Velasquez as well as by Chinese and Japanese
calligraphy.
